Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals

Specifically, on Mondays, this meal is diligently delivered to the Tamworth Town Hall by volunteers for the benefit of seniors. In Moultonborough, dining facilities are available at the Moultonboro Function Hall, formerly known as the Lions Club, where a noon-time meal is served from Monday to Thursday. Additionally, lunch is provided on Wednesdays at the Benz Center in the neighboring town of Sandwich. For those who are eligible and unable to attend these communal meals, home delivery is an available option.

The Meals on Wheels program is dedicated to delivering nourishing meals to individuals who are homebound and unable to procure or prepare their own food. Given that many of these recipients are elderly and confined to their homes, the service plays a crucial role in addressing their nutritional needs.

Extensive research underscores the significant benefits of home-delivered meal programs. These initiatives not only enhance diet quality and increase nutrient intake but also mitigate food insecurity and contribute to an overall improvement in the recipients' quality of life. Moreover, such programs yield cost savings for government entities by reducing the reliance on costly healthcare services such as hospitals and nursing homes, thereby fostering a more sustainable and efficient community support system.
